WORLD PARTY
Brixton Academy, London, 1993
World Party had all the potential to be a major band in the mid 80s and into the 90s, but their main strength - the songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger (RIP) - was also their biggest weakness. Having been the Waterboys keyboard player, to-clever-for-his-own-good Wallinger formed World Party on his own, wrote everything and pretty much played everything.
Sadly his perfectionism and procrastination meant he missed the boat and music moved on before he got his act together. That said, he did write some great pop/indie rock songs and he could certainly play.
The sound quality is excellent and the CD comes with a newly designed cover and disc art.
