PREFAB SPROUT
Cardiff University, 7 November January 1985
The Sprouts were on the road, their lineup had settled down, and Paddy McAloon's song writing was getting more sophisticated with each release. The first album 'Swoon' had captured the indie crowd's attention and the follow up 'Steve McQueen' (or 'Two Wheels Good' in the US) was getting lots of critical acclaim and taking off in the charts. The tour had a shaky start with singer, guitarist and keyboard player, Wendy Smith, out sick, but she was back on stage in time for their visit to Cardiff and this excellent performance.
They are an acquired taste, but the songwriting can be exquisite, and the presentation is quite timeless - so give 'em a go! This is a complete show direct from the mixing desk tape so it's exactly as it happened.
The sound quality is excellent, and the CD comes with a newly designed cover and disc art.
