BRONSKI BEAT
Bronski Beat; Hammersmith Palais, London 29 November 1984
Jimmy Somerville's voice is certainly one of the most unique of the synthpop generation, and the band's enduring song 'Smalltown Boy' is one of the most memorable of the mid-synthpop era. Their infectious mix of hi-energy pop and socially-aware lyrics set them appart from many of their contemporaries, but the three friends couldn't hold it together long with Somerville leaving the band to pursue his own successful career throughout the rest of the decade.
Bronski Beat didn't play that many gigs in their original line-up, so it's hard to find much in the way of decent-quality recordings. As a result, this cd is taken from the best available material to create a more complete 1984 gig. The majority of it is taken from a BBC In Concert recording at the Hammersmith Palais, with 2 extra tracks recorded at gigs in The Netherlands. I'm pleased with the result which hangs together well and includes all the main songs of the era.
The sound quality is very good, and the CD comes with a newly designed cover and disc art.
Postage is £1.80 for up to 3 CDs (£6 international)
