A Flock of Seagulls: Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, 1983

 A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS

Live at the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, Tennessee, USA 1983

One of of the most influential early synth pop bands in the USA! Yes, it's true!

Often overlooked in the UK, or written off as one-hit-wonders, which is neither fair nor accurate.

The Gulls might be more famous for their extreme 80s hairstyles, but this Liverpudlian four-piece have a great back catelogue of sci-fi influenced, catchy synth-heavy, pop-rock bangers that literally drill themselves into your sub conscious - we're talking some serious earworm action.

The band made their name in America and Australia in the early synth-pop years with top-10 hits from their debut eponymous album in 1982 - with "I Ran" smashing into the top 10 and being played endlessly on the then newly launched MTV video channel in the US.

This live show from country music's temple in Memphis includes all the hits from the first two albums - I Ran, Space Age Love Song, Wishing, Nightmares etc ... and they all  sound great live at the the Grand Ole Opry - I'd say the Gulls actually benefit from a slightly more stripped-down sound - free from some of the more 'stylistic' 80s studio effects you find on the albums.

This 15-track CD is a full soundboard recording that's been cleaned up quite a bit and sounds great. As with all our CDs It comes with a unique newly designed cover and direct-printed CD art.
