DURAN DURAN
Paradiso Club, Amsterdam, Saturday 12th September 1981
A wonderful early gig from the Brummies in downtown Amsterdam - complete with a brass section. Love this show for all its flaws, innocence and optimism.
You know it's an early outing as they play "Girls on Film" and "Planet Earth" twice - tho they are different versions of these DD staples to be fair.
Tracklist also include a slightly questionable cover of Bowie's "Fame" and the a rare outing of first single B-side "Late Bar".
There is plenty of banter from Simon, although he's mainly trying to get the sceptical audience to make some noise and dance - which he achieves later on with some good chanting ahead of the encores.
A polished performance - no, but certainly enthusiastic and charming in equal measures. Soundboard recording is excellent and has been tidied up for best effect.
