BLANCMANGE
The Paradiso, Amsterdam 1983
Massively underestimated and overlooked synth-pop duo Blancmange had a string of hits in the early 80s including "Living on the Ceiling", "Waves", "Blind Vision" and "Don't Tell Me".
The pair, Neil Arthur (vocals) and Stephen Luscombe (keyboards) from North London, broke up in 1986 after the 4th album failed to deliver on the band's previous success.
Remembered mainly for their first hit single "Living on the Ceiling", the band had a great body of material to draw on from their excellent first two albums Happy Families (1982), Mange Tout (1984).
Though this show at The Paradiso is only a snapshot of the full concert, the quality is excellent and what there is really shines a light on how good Blancmange were back in the day.
The CD comes with unique cover art and directly printed art.
