ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN
Gothenburg, Sweden, 1985
One of the big hitters of the early 80s, these Liverpool legends fronted by the uncompromising Ian McCulloch certainly knew how to pen a hit tune! The indie rockers may have borrowed heavily from The Doors, but their dark, swirling fusion of post-punk and psychedelia inspired a generation of indie bands that followed.
The Bunnymen could be a little hit-and-miss live - depending on how the band was getting along at any given time (a bit like New Order TBH!), but this show is a corker.
Recorded in Sweden in 85, just after the band's first best-of compilation had been released, they were in top form, and this lively set includes a bunch of 60s covers such as "Paint it Black" and "Run Run Run". It's fast and punchy and they rattle through 18 tracks in just under 80 minutes.
The sound quality is spot on and the CD comes with unique cover art and directly printed art.
