Tears For Fears: Shepherd's Bush Empire, 1996

TEARS FOR FEARS

Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, 1996

The wheels had finally come off the Tears For Fears international juggernaut by 1996. Following Curt and Roland's acrimonious split back in 1990, Orzabal had carried on with TFF as a solo project, with some initial success. However, most bands with their origins in the synth-pop melting pot were falling by the wayside as US grunge dominated the early-90s scene.

Roland was touring "Raoul and the Kings of Spain", released in 1985 this Spanish-influenced album  didn't trouble the charts too much and was the last work before Curt rejoined the band in 2000.

To be fair, I liked "Raoul" as an album, and this show from London's Shepherd's Bush Empire is a mature and confident performance that I would recommend to any lapsed TFF fans out there - it even includes a nice cover of Radiohead's "Creep" for good measure.

The sound quality as absolutely superb and the CD comes with, as usual, newly designed cover and disc art.
